Park Month

Button_French version

In June 2018, Ecology Ottawa and Nature Canada are kicking off a month-long celebration of Ottawa’s parks!

Funded by TD FEF, we will be helping Ottawa residents plan and execute events within their local greenspaces, with the goal of celebrating all that our parks do for us. Park Month will bring neighbors together, turn strangers to friends and reconnect our community to nature. We are searching for community associations, community groups, and/or residents who would be interested in participating. An event could be something as simple as a park clean-up or tree give-away, or as complex as a community festival or movie night. The only criteria is that it is a community organized event in greenspace. Ecology Ottawa will be able to assist communities with planning, advertising, and executing their Park Month event.

Possible Park Month activities

Since Park Month is a celebration of parks, any activity held within a park will be accepted. Examples of activities could be (but are not limited too):

  • Tree planting
  • Park remediation
  • Story time under the trees
  • Outdoor cinema/movie night
  • Community festival
  • Artistic demonstrations
  • Jane’s walk
  • Tree tour
  • Community BBQ
  • Sporting events
