This year, Ecology Ottawa has partnered with the Ecology Committee at the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club to run the Green team for this event. The job includes the collection of garbage, litter, and recycling on course and sorting of returnable empties. We are excited to partner with a three time certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary with a commitment to environmental best practices.

Before the event we will be hosting an Orientation session on site, at the Hunt & Golf Club the morning of Saturday August 19. It is mandatory to attend one this session, as we will be going over golf etiquette and setting up the course for Monday morning. There are three shift times each day from Monday August 21 to Sunday August 27, with a larger group Thursday through Sunday as the crowd grows for the Championship rounds. On Monday and Thursday of the following week a small crew will help tear-down and clean-up.

Volunteering for this event will be a lot of fun, and opportunities are available for folks of all ages (16+). And yes, volunteering for the CP Women’s Open Green Clean-up Team can count towards your high school volunteer requirement! As an added bonus, if you love golf there will be ample opportunity to see some of this high level competition.
