As we approach 2017, Canada’s 150th anniversary as a country, the National Capital Commission is looking for your ideas to help transform Ottawa. They are planning to launch seventeen major initiatives that will change the face of this city over the next 50 years.
So that begs the question: How do you want Ottawa to be remembered and represented in the future?
We all walk the streets of our great city and see the historic buildings, national monuments, and quirky neighborhoods. But are these man-made structures the legacy we want to leave for future generations? Ecology Ottawa argues no. We want to be remembered as the generation to take-back our greenspace!
We want a living monument. A city with world class greenspace, a vast and vibrant treescape, and connected natural ecosystems. Now is the time we can make this vision happen. Tell the NCC you agree by filing out their online form here: http://www.ncc-ccn.gc.ca/planning/plan-canadas-capital
There are many ways to go about attaining this vision, but a concrete project that can be started now is for the NCC to announce they will plant 150,000 trees for Canada’s 150th anniversary!
Trees and greenspace have the opportunity to be included in the vision for Ottawa’s future. Your voice can have an impact. Tell the NCC and the new Federal Government that you care about our trees!
Help plant 1 Million Trees in Ottawa in celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary!
Visit the National Capital Commission’s website as soon as possible and save Ottawa’s trees and greenspace!
